Florence update

Many of you know that Florence is having some tough neurological issues right now-- instability with walking and frequent quick seizures that last only a few seconds. She recently was diagnosed with Celiac Disease which is an autoimmune reaction to gluten in her body. We are working hard to put her on a clean diet (no gluten which includes wheat, oats, barley and rye). She is doing well on the diet but has some set backs with the neuro issues about every six weeks.

Today we decided on a treatment for her called IVIG -- intravenous immunoglobulin. Basically a three hour infusion of antibodies in her body to help put her autoimmune system to sleep. We have another three hour treatment scheduled tomorrow. She did very well today-- tolerated the IV and the drugs. She slept at the very end of the treatment and woke up at home which was probably a little surprising. But she asked to put on her tutu, a top, some music and to roll out the gymnastics mat. She wanted to dance! Will, Sabrina, and I were shocked and thought that maybe we all should take part in this treatment!

Here are pictures of our dancing girl Florence today after her first IVIG treatment:
